DA Hands: Rejuvenation That Shows

One of the most telling signs of age is the appearance of the hands, which is why many people choose hand rejuvenation to restore a more youthful look.

While most of us focus on skincare for the face and neck, the hands are often overlooked. At Destination Aesthetics™, our DA Hands treatments reduce the appearance of skeletal features, visible veins, and hyperpigmentation. By combining a volumizing filler with the Cutera® Excel V laser, we can help your hands look smoother, fuller, and more youthful again.

Options for Hand Rejuvenation at Destination Aesthetics

Hand rejuvenation at Destination Aesthetics™ restores smoother, fuller skin with injectable fillers and balances skin tone with gentle laser treatments that reduce age spots and visible veins.

Dermal fillers specifically treat wrinkles in the face and hands. Radiesse® contains calcium hydroxylapatite, which is one of the fillers we use for hand rejuvenation and works to immediately increase the volume in the skin as well as promote the natural production of collagen within the body. Collagen is a protein that your body produces in order to strengthen tissues, and when used to cosmetically treat sunken features, collagen can improve skin elasticity and restore a more youthful appearance. We also use Juvederm® Ultra Plus for hand rejuvenation, which is a hyaluronic acid filler.

Each filler is administered through a fine needle into the affected area of the hands, and you will notice results immediately once the filler has been injected. Although the gel is metabolized over time, your body will continue to produce natural collagen and stimulate vibrant skin. Results have shown to last up to a year or more in some individuals.

Because the injection is applied directly into the hand, clients may experience mobility issues and have difficulty performing daily tasks immediately after the procedure. These side effects, along with any swelling or bruising, should subside within a few days.

It may not be enough to simply increase the volume of the hands. Although skeletal-looking hands with protruding veins may get resolved with dermal fillers, age spots and other discoloration can still make your hands look worn. Using the CUTERA® Excel V laser, any skin pigmentation affecting the hands can be removed.

The CUTERA® Excel V laser uses a high-frequency beam to target age spots on the hands, and the energy applied to the treatment area immediately diminishes pigmentation. The laser is effective for all skin types due to its adjustable wavelengths and treatment only takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The procedure is minimally invasive with only mild pain during and immediately after the procedure, and primary side effects typically include redness, slight swelling, and bruising. Combing Excel V laser treatment with dermal fillers enhances the hands both inside and out.

Why Consider Hand Rejuvenation?

Other than the face, the hands are subjected to an incredible amount of exposure in a lifetime. UV rays, dirt and bacteria, manual labor, and the natural aging process all contribute to hands looking bony and frail. Regardless of how well you moisturize your face, aging hands will reveal your age almost immediately, which can lead many individuals to feel self-conscious about their overall appearance.

More DA Hands FAQs

Most patients require 2 to 4 Excel V® laser sessions for pigment and vascular improvement, along with 1 to 2 filler sessions for volume restoration. Treatments are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and collagen to remodel. Your injector will recommend a phased plan that balances results with downtime.

Hyaluronic acid fillers in the hands typically last 9 to 12 months, depending on activity level, metabolism, and skincare habits. Because the hands are constantly in motion and exposed to the environment, fillers may break down faster here than in the face. Periodic maintenance ensures continued fullness and smoothness.

After filler placement, avoid heavy gripping and chemical exposure for 24 to 48 hours. Following laser sessions, use fragrance-free moisturizer and broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to protect healing skin. Avoid tanning, saunas, and hot tubs for at least one week to support recovery.

Most patients find DA Hands very tolerable. Filler injections may cause brief pressure or stinging, while the Excel V laser produces a warm, snapping sensation. Numbing creams, local anesthetic, and conservative laser settings keep discomfort minimal throughout the process.

Light activities such as driving, typing, or cooking can usually be resumed right away. We recommend pausing strenuous workouts, weightlifting, or cleaning with harsh chemicals for the first 1 to 2 days. By one week, the majority of swelling or redness has resolved and patients return to full activity.

Filler results are visible immediately, although mild swelling may briefly mask the final outcome. Improvements from laser therapy develop gradually, with pigmentation fading over several weeks. Most patients appreciate noticeable overall rejuvenation within 1 to 3 months after completing their treatment plan.

Absolutely. Many patients combine DA Hands with DA Lift, skin resurfacing, or facial injectables for comprehensive rejuvenation. Treating both the face and hands helps maintain harmony between these highly visible areas and prevents a mismatch in age appearance.
